A Tehran Times mini-editorial inspired by the carpet edition of the Shab Khosh series.
Shiraz green, Bakhtiar lilac and Qom copper, Hossein Rezvani’s opulent blooms and woven intricacies meet gilded objects of desire in a still life setting. This mini-editorial seeks to reveal the hidden similarities between tapestry and fashion, by focusing on their purpose as objects of ornamentation.
“As we take care of our shoes, gently brushing the leather, we take care of the carpet, with a stroke of the brush.”
“As we use rich tapestries to decorate our homes, we use accessories to adorn our bodies.”
“Handbags represent an investment, carry money, and as such symbolise commerce; as does the carpet, moving from hand to hand in the mercantile world of the bazar.”
